Videomuseum is a consortium of museums and other public structures managing modern and contemporary art collections (national museums, town, county or regional authority museums, Fnac, Frac, foundations) which gathered to develop methods and tools using new technologies to inventory and disseminate the knowledge of the heritage of modern and contemporary art. To develop methods and tools to :
• Create management software of these collections (inventory, picture library, new media, workshops, condition report, restoration, loans…).
• Disseminate information about these collections with Navigart (CD-Rom, Internet) or with catalogs of collection.
Videomuseum currently encompasses 59 institutions and presently includes 21 100 artists, 256 000 works and 151 800 images, accessible in each organism :
